Northside Home Care Services (NHCS) has provided exemplary care to frail and vulnerable older people living in Coolock and wider parts of North County Dublin for more than 55 years and is an approved provider of the Health Service Executive. It has facilitated the oft stated wish of all of its clients, “let me live out my days in my own home” in as healthy and as normal a way as possible.
Working from a strength rather than deficit approach, NHCS asks what it can do to help make things better and how it can best do so. We recognise the client as the expert in all aspects of their life and view our various inputs as a thought generator (Would a one cup kettle help now that it is getting harder to lift heavy items), a facilitator (Would you like me to order that kettle online?), a collaborator (So you want to surprise your daughter in the USA, how about an Amazon eCard which you can select and send online) and a carer / helper (I’ll put on the kettle and while we are waiting for it to boil, let’s get your medication and creams done).
NCHS recognizes the importance of our staff in all that we do and we have invested heavily in recent years to ensure only the best people are hired to work with those we are privileged enough to provide care too. To date we have achieved ISO9001 and Excellence Through People Awards from the National Standards Authority of Ireland and we are also the highest ranked Home Care Agency and Charity in the Great Places to Work Awards 2020. Our Home Care Assistants are qualified to at least FETAC Level 5 and our back-office staff to at least Level 6. We also have graduates in nursing and social work on staff; a fully voluntary Board of Management with extensive knowledge and experience and we buy in additional resources when needed as we know that one size solutions or
one size care packages do not work for all. We go above and beyond what is expected so that you know you are getting the best care possible and your family knows you are safe, happy and in the best of hands.
We conduct research on an ongoing basis; are active partners with Alone on a Slainte Care Funded research pilot as to the benefits of technology in keeping people living at home safely and we are constantly open to ideas and suggestions from carers, clients and families as to how we can improve our services.
